Oroville Youth Soccer Club is committed to an atmosphere of teamwork, sportsmanship and respect while developing individual soccer skills and fostering attitudes of spirit, cooperation and responsibility within the youth of the Greater Oroville Area.
ATTENTION ALL OYSC COACHES AND FAMILIES:
PLEASE READ REGISTRATION IS AT THE END OF THIS FOLLOWING NOTICE
Due to the Covid-19 virus and the continued uncertainty of the spread or reduction of new cases and the re-opening of the state/county, we are proceeding with caution and mindfulness for the OYSC 2020 Fall Soccer Season. OYSC exists so that youth in Oroville have an opportunity to play soccer. It is with every best intention to give your child a chance to be active, interact with other children on the soccer field and develop their skills playing a game they love that we are moving forward with a season this year.
While we would like to believe there is a chance that we can play games, that is currently not an option based on all recommendations. We are following state and county guidelines as well as those of CIF, CDC, and CalNorth soccer.
First and foremost, our board’s responsibility is to the safety of all our players, families, coaches and referees.
At this point we are announcing registration starting July 1, 2020 for a revised soccer season.
What that means:
1.) We have lowered the cap size on the teams so that we will have fewer teams and fewer players in order to comply.
2.) We are sadly not able to offer a U5 division this year (3 and 4 year olds) because there is simply no way to manage social distancing in this age group.
3.) The rules of social distancing will be strongly enforced on spectators as well as players. We will not be able to gather with thousands of spectators on Saturdays at River Bend Park. The snackbar will be closed. This is very different from a normal soccer season but a must if we want our kids to play/practice. If you are not comfortable with the state and county guidelines for social distancing and you think you may have trouble following the rules or if you feel uncomfortable wearing a mask we would recommend you not sign your children up to play soccer. Players will not be expected to wear a mask during active play/practice, but adults and spectators may be required to wear masks per state guidelines.
4.) OYSC will communicate scheduled practices and teams once they are formed. Practices will start in late August after school starts. There is no traveling. U13+ teams will not be able to travel.
5.) Should any changes arise and we are able to play games, we will schedule those immediately. That being said, OYSC is in full support of any decisions made to cancel or postpone any programming as they consider the health and safety of our players and families.
6.) We are planning to focus on player/athlete and coach development and will be using this season to run soccer clinics on Saturdays in lieu of games unless otherwise posted. This means your registration covers your child practicing with their team, learning skills of the game, exercising and possibly scrimmaging other OYSC teams if allowed. Every player will receive an OYSC team shirt and will be asked to wear the shirts to practices because pennies are not allowed. It is the club’s best intention to provide the children with soccer and physical fitness as well as raising the bar for development of the players/athletes of our community and future OYSC seasons. By doing so, the club continues to aid in the development of players for our local high school soccer teams.
OYSC also recommends everyone follows the protocols and best practices set forth by the CDC which you can find outlined in the links provided below.
THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS.
$60 for U11 and under, $80 for U13 and up. This is the early bird pricing. $60/$80 for 10 weeks of soccer instruction is a good price. We can’t afford to keep the club going this year without income from participants and we understand it’s not going to work for everyone.
DUE TO REDUCED CAP SIZES ON TEAMS, ALL KIDS MUST PLAY IN THEIR OWN AGE DIVISION SO THAT SPACES ARE AVAILABLE FOR EVERYONE TO PLAY.
As a recreational soccer league, we are not a competitive league. Therefore, the skills development is in line with our mission. We hope you’ll join us in providing a great experience for our kids to become better athletes.
Anyone who would like to volunteer to join a committee, we welcome your support. We have 2 positions open on the board, U9 Age Group Director and Director of Refs. Contact us at: email@example.com

OYSC is club sport that relies on parents and volunteers. Anyone interested in supporting the club as a coach, board member or referee can reach out to email@example.com. We welcome you to join us in supporting soccer for the Oroville community. OYSC is a nonprofit 501 (c) and all donations are Tax deductible.
We would also like to thank the many sponsors who are supporting us this year especially our corporate sponsors including Oroville Hospital, Taco Bell, Dick's Sporting Goods, Walmart Supercenter, Oroville Ford, Round Table Pizza and Metal Works.
Without the support of these businesses and all the local businesses who support our teams as sponsors, club soccer for the kids in the Oroville Community would not be possible.
